The Restaurant Echaurren Tradicion is the central core of this house. From here and around it everything has been created and all gastronomic proposals articulated around it, meanwhile incorporating the others to the rest of the Hotel.
Echaurren Tradición is nowadays a part of the La Rioja´s traditional cuisine and the merit comes from our mother, Marisa Sanchez. She has recollected and transmitted to the restaurant´s menu a handfull of unforgettable receipts, which are the best legacy, and better heritage that a mother can give to their sons. Simple receipts, elegantly resolved, and overall, tasty. The croquettes, the chickpea stew, the red beans, the purée or the vegetable stew, the fish soup, the legs of lamb, the parmentier meatball o el corderito en salsa, with many others, are dishes that makes our loyal clients come once and for ever, as they feel this house as their own.
Nowadays, the Menu of Echaurren Tradicion Restaurant is feed by all these unforgettable receipts, which have been cited above. But also from some dishes of our Restaurant El Portal, mixing naturally together with our mother´s classical receipts. These mixture makes life forever our mother´s receipts which were born as vanguard, and were consolidated. To our Restaurant Tradición are wellcome only those dishes that deserves the honor and right to be classics and show up in the Echaurren´s Menu.
"My mother is a wonderful woman and those who know will attest to what I say. Working alongside a mother is something that very few can afford. I′ve been that lucky and I feel immensely privileged to do so. She figures prominently in this website, how could it be otherwise, it is our homage to someone who has managed to convey the love of food and products of this land.
Marisa Sanchez has a National Award for the Best Cuisine Chef in 1987 and in 2008 she was granted the medal of merit for the work. She directed this kitchen until a few years ago and is still with us, helping us with her advice and experience. When she appears in the kitchen and starts talking, all the home cooks take note".
